Act yourself into feeling instead of feeling yourself into action

You are more likely to act yourself into feeling than feeling yourself into action.

I've written a post in the past about motivation and how we mistakenly take it as a stable source of action: Why motivation is bullshit.

The loop that we think we can rely on: "Inspiration -> Motivation -> Action" works, but only every now and then.

You're in a good mood, you feel empowered, you feel energetic and the inspiration and motivation drive you to take action. Awesome. But if you feel bad or neutral, you often won't get the inspiration and motivation to take action.

What is a more reliable way to change how you feel, to achieve more and to become happier?

Start the loop with Action: "Action -> Inspiration -> Motivation".

You control the narrative in this case!

Just take some action, no matter how you feel (can be super small). This action will lead to some extra insight or some inspiration for the next step and will therefore motivate you for more action. You will start feeling better. You're moving forward. You're not stuck anymore. You create your own motivation and don't wait for it to fall in your lap. You take ownership of how you feel.

For the avid personal growth people: this does not mean you're pushing away the negative feeling. It just gives a tool to step out of it once you've given it its place.

Who's with me to start acting ourselves into feeling instead of the other way around?
